Our Background
Ochil Forestry is a brand new business founded by Owen Toole in the summer of 2023 and is based in Perthshire Scotland. We specialise in low impact forestry and woodland management, offering our clients a more environmentally friendly methods of timber harvesting. Traditionally timber is harvested with big machinery for efficiency and to deliver the required tonnage to the roadside. This does however has its negatives, and can leave lasting damage to the forest floor as well as standing trees. Our approach is to use lighter more nimble machinery that can carry out extraction whilst minimising damage to the ground, leaving a tidy and healthy woodland.

What We Provide
We offer a wide range of woodland management and forestry services including:
*Woodland thinning. This is a great way to begin maintaining your woodland, by removing trees selectively it can benefit the surrounding trees more space to grow and develop a greater yield should you chose to harvest in the future. It also allows more light to reach the forest floor encouraging plants to grow. Clients are left with a more healthy wood as well as timber to use for firewood, biomass and milling.
*Clear fell. A clear fell is removing all trees in a select area, this will produce the most amount of timber and allows the landowner to re plant
*disease management. Ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) and larch disease (Phytophthora ramorum) are more and more common in uk woodlands. Removing the infected trees makes the woodland safe and helps prevent the spread.
*Dangerous trees and storm damage. With the likes of storm Arwen in recent years, trees become uprooted and damaged in the high winds. We offer a call out service to the local area as well as site clearances to deal with this.
*Arboriculture. We cover all aspects of tree surgery including dismantles, pruning, crown management and so much more!
